This Summer is Going WAY Too Fast

August 13, 2007 - Leave a Response

Holy crap. School starts in two weeks; what the fuck? Summer started like, a week ago, dammit! How the hell could it be almost over? Frigging school schedules.

There is a bright side, though. I think this is the first time in living memory that I’m actually looking forward to school (I mean, you know, relatively). That’s actually kind of depressing, if you think about it.

In any case, it’s been a while since I’ve found time to post, but due to school starting, I’ll no longer be traveling for long periods of time, so I’ll be able to write more often.  W00t.

It shouldn’t be too long before I can move the blog to a domain name and use a better stylesheet, instead of this crap one. If anyone could recommend a domain name registrar that’s cheap (or free, for that matter) but reliable, that’s be great. Same for cheap hosting.

Well, that’s all for one night. Time for The Simpsons.

Sorry for the lack of posts

Sorry I haven’t posted in a long fucking time while. I just got back from a two-week camping trip in Yosemite National Park. It was pretty fecking awesome. I spent the two weeks hiking, fishing, swimming, and stargazing with a bunch of friends. Is that not heaven? We even saw a black bear. It came right up to our campsite during the night and started futzing around with our bear box. When it heard us watching through the bushes it ran off, but oh well. We saw plenty of deer as well.

Anyhoo, now I’m back, and I’ve got until Tuesday at home before I go up to the Russian River to be a counselor at a music camp, also for two weeks. Should be fun. I was a camper there several times before, so I know the way everything works.

After those two weeks are up, work resumes with the rehearsals for the play I’ve mentioned before. So far it does not look like this summer will be a boring one. Woo!

Well, ta ta for now, and again, sorry for the lack of posts.

I’m going to San Diego — Wooooo!

May 25, 2007 - Leave a Response

I recently received an invitation from a close friend of mine, Jack, to go on a five-day adventure in San Diego. This will be a fun thing, as we rarely get to see each other. He lives in Mammoth, California, and I live in San Francisco, California. So when I got the invite, I was like, “woo!”

I’ll be gone June 10th through 15th,  and while I’m there I plan to finally try surfing. I’ve been recommended to the San Diego zoo, so I’ll try and do that. All in all, it should be a great trip. I’m very excited. :D

In the meantime, I get to wait -counts on fingers- 17 more days until school ends, counting weekends. That’s really not bad at all, so I guess I’ll survive. Barely.

Well, bonjour, and thank you for reading!

Sincerely,

Jaques

School ends June 11th. Woo!

It will be refreshing to get in some good old-fashioned goofing off over the Summer. This year dragged on particularly long, and it’ll be nice to finally go to sleep on a Sunday night without kicking myself in the ass for not doing the homework.

The last few weeks of school are always kind of fun anyway, once you get past the fact that you’re there in the first place, because the teachers kind of give up on trying to teach you anything and end up showing really stupid films that we all ignore and just talk (although my English teacher is showing us The Tragedy of Macbeth, written by Shakespeare and directed by Roman Polanski, which is a nice change. It’s a brilliant film.).

I did another Blackbelt midterm at Taekwondo class this past Saturday, and did very well. The bong mon ee went very smoothly, so I guess God has made up for hitting me in the head with one (see this post if you didn’t catch the reference). This testing cycle’s weapon will be single song jeol bong (spelling?), which for those who are unfamiliar with Korean martial arts terminology, is the two sticks attached by a piece of string.

Well, I guess I’ll sign off for now. Adios!

Sincerely Yours,

Pedro

Every cloud has a silver lining, eh?

I did not get the part. Wah. The cast required a younger group of actors.

However, enough older people auditioned that Craig Slaight, head of the Young Conservatory at A.C.T. is creating a new project for us — an original play, exclusive to our group! So yours truly is going to be part of the original cast of the new play Middle Class, by Mr. Slaight’s brother, Brad Slaight. It is the third installment in two other plays about school life, the first two being Class Action and Second Class. I’m really psyched about it, and it’s coming up this July. Woohoo!

Woo!

The testing that was expected today was postponed til tomorrow, and it turns out that there will only be two more days of it: Tuesday and Wednesday. Woohoo! Today was glorious, yes, glorious. I went downtown to an audition at ACT (American Conservatory Theater), my local acting company, and it went very well. I showed them two monologues from the plays Women and Wallace, by Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Class Action, by Brad Slaight. Then I gave them my resumé, and left. It was a really successful audition, providing I get the part. It’s for an international program where they send like eight people to Baths, England for a few weeks during the summer, and then we produce and perform the play out here in the fall. My chances of getting in are slim, since they only take like four boys, but I felt really pleased with how I did, and I’m confident that I’ll get a part. Wish me luck!

Thank God it’s Friday

The man has been fucking with yours truly for the past week with the the infliction of pain, suffering, misery, embarrassment, and temporary loss of sanity that every student in the Western world goes through annually.

We know it by the name “Standardized Testing.”

Fortunately, I have survived the first week of “standard”  humiliation, and now I can rest for two glorious days: This, we know as the legally required and grudgingly consented “weekend.”

But is the man content with driving me to the brink of insanity with his miserable tests? No! Now that week #1 is up, the man allows me to sit, rest, and relax, effectively letting my guard down, so that when week #2 arrives on Monday, the effect is all the more devastating.

But alas, this is the way of the world, and while the vast majority of the world is ever-changing and evolving, Standardized Testing is not one of the items in this category.

So let us enjoy our pitiful two days of rest, and try not to think about the hellfire that awaits us come Monday.

I finally got around to seeing 300 today, and I fucking loved it. Brilliant cinematography, excellent script, and best of all, it has convinced me to never join the military. It is wholeheartedly recommended. Go see it. Now, or I will liquefy your kidneys via teh internets.

In other news, after walking home from the movie theater, I took one of those street Scientology stress tests, and managed to harass and annoy the people running it to the point of insanity with comments about it being a cult and asking whether or not Tom Cruise had taken the test. Life is good.

I’ve been skiing!!

April 15, 2007 - Leave a Response

I just got back this evening from a weekend of skiing in the area known as Squaw Valley, right around Lake Tahoe. It was freezing this morning, but by around 12:30 it got really nice. It snowed the day before, so I was skiing on fresh powder, which was really awesome.

I need to rush off so I’ll just make a short post right now.

I need to get out of the house and go to a class that starts in about an hour and a half, so I’ll just quickly touch on some stuff that’s going on now:

I’m working on registering a domain so that I can move the blog there and not have to use the WordPress stylesheets. I won’t say the name here in case some dickhead decides to buy it for the sake of being obnoxious. :)

My studies in Cocoa are coming along nicely, so maybe I’ll have a little something to show off soon. Don’t hold your breath, though. I am not known for my ability to stay on task while coding, as I invariably get bored and don’t come back to it for a while.

I’m sorry that I haven’t posted much recently, but I’ve been busy with various kinds of shit and I’m feeling kind of swamped. Such is the life of a student.

In the meantime, check out Albino Blacksheep and EMPTV. The latter has sarcasticaly linked to this blog with the title “Comedy Button,” and its owner, rmuser, makes it no secret that he doesn’t like me very much. But I like the site anyway, so check it out. Got to go, so ta ta for now.
